Facts and benefits of health and useful popcorn in human life

There are more than a dozen fun facts about popcorn, the popular snack that kids and adults love. All interesting popcorn trivia. If there's one thing that goes well with watching a movie, it's eating popcorn. There is nothing more enjoyable than sitting in a comfortable theater seat eating hot popcorn while watching a good movie. However, this was not always the case. The sale of the savory, salty snack was banned in theaters because theater owners thought popcorn was more of a nuisance than a good source of revenue.

Why was popcorn banned in movie theaters?

Movie theaters weren't always what they are today. In the early 20th century, movies were not shown on a screen from a projector. The actors performed in front of a live audience. The stage owners were not happy with the popcorn crunch that often distracted the performers.

Besides the noise, the owners didn't want popcorn kernels dropped on their beautiful carpet. It was very difficult to get out once customers walked in and stopped on the carpet. Therefore, popcorn was banned from theaters.

Why was the popcorn ban lifted?

As you may already know, there is no ban on popcorn in movie theaters today. When street vendors learned of the ban, they began selling popcorn outside movie theaters to moviegoers who took the snack with them to the theater. People were asked to check their snacks with their coats on. This method was not satisfactory to customers or theater owners because the smell of popcorn filled the area.

Cinema owners were not satisfied with street vendors making money in front of their establishments. They finally decided that the theater could get the money that the street vendors were making. So, the ban was lifted, and popcorn was allowed back on stage as it has become the most popular snack menu item today.

Theater owners are quick to admit that they make most of their profits from the snacks they sell rather than movie tickets. Popcorn and other snacks sell for exorbitant prices because officials know they can get away with prices. About 90 cents of every dollar spent on popcorn is profit for the theater. It is illegal for customers to take their own snacks to movie theaters, but many people do so to save money.

After the ban was lifted, theater owners found it very convenient to make popcorn. In 1938, theater owner Glenn W. Dickinson installed popcorn machines in the lobbies of his theatres. He soon noticed that popcorn was making more money than any of the other snacks.

It's safe to say that when you go to the movies today, you can rest assured that you'll be able to enjoy this delicious snack along with your favorite movies. In some modern theaters, there is a popcorn bar where you can sprinkle any toppings you wish on top of the popcorn you buy.
